Masuwe lodge, located about 7 km from Victoria Falls town – has re-opened after a substantial rebuild and refurbishment which maintains the original footprint and minimizes impact on the surrounding environment.
The lodge that has a total of nine Wilderness Tents offering king or twin beds – has let go of the old, dark green tents in favor of new, sand colored tents that allow more light into the rooms.
Adding to the accommodation options is the Family Nest which has two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, separated into an upstairs master bedroom and downstairs facility with living spaces that open onto a shaded deck with a private braai area.
The public areas of the main lodge have also been refurbished with an all new deck, kitchen and décor; yet with a nod to the past – the beautiful stones of Masuwe, the deep rock-pool and the shady trees remain.
The lodge is part of a 2500 acre conservation area and there are plans to introduce a breeding herd of sable, rhino as well as some roan antelope – offering guests an opportunity to be part a unique conservation program.
A stay at the Masuwe lodge is inclusive of all meals, drinks and a range of activities including visits to the Victoria Falls, guided walks and game drives both on the Masuwe Sanctuary and also within the neighboring Chamabonda section of the Zambezi National Park.
Masuwe Lodge was originally opened in 1992 as the flagship property of Landela Safaris, a company that eventually boasted eight lodges in Zimbabwe and four lodges in Botswana. Company owners Stewart and Sally Cranswick were the first operators to offer a full circuit of Zimbabwe’s highlights and amongst the first to focus solely on photographic, experiential, and eco-tourism in this country.
Landela Safaris is looking forward to further growth and prosperity in beautiful and diverse Zimbabwe
