Wilderness Safaris has expanded its product offering with the’ Bisate Lodge, which is set to open on June 1. Bisate aims to enrich the gorilla viewing experience for its guests by providing depth and knowledge through evening presentations and informal chats with an on-site gorilla expert, researcher or scientist who will share knowledge with guests about these creatures. Although the park is best Known for the Mountain Gorillas, there are other animals like golden monkeys, black-fronted duiker, buffalo, spotted hyena and bushbuck. The park also has elephants and over 150 species of birds visit here.
Bisate Lodge is nestled in the vibrant foliage of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. It is situated within the amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone, the 27-hectare Bisate site has sweeping views of the Karisimbi, Bisoke and Mikeno volcanoes. It is close enough to Kinigi (the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters) to be convenient for morning gorilla treks but far enough away to feel remote.
The lodge will comprise six forest villas where guests are able to enjoy the gorilla conservation experience. Each villa will have a bedroom, reception space and bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace and with views across a private deck towards Mount Bisoke.
Bookings for Bisate Lodge open on October 3. All sales will be handled by Wilderness Safaris’ partner and ground handler in Rwanda, Thousand Hills Africa (previously Thousand Hills Expeditions). For more information visit thousandhillsafrica.com
