The majestic Zambezi River which stretches for 2700 kms, eventually plunging into the Batoka Gorge, will consecutively be the Zambezi Cycle Challenge’s setting for the 2nd year.
The Zambezi Cycle Challenge will take place from the 8th -10th July, consisting of three days of cycling through the Parks and forestry surrounding the Vic Falls region. The field will remain at a size that will ensure the personalised aspect that last year’s participants enjoyed.
To raise funds to preserve the environment surrounding the Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls wherein it plummets. These funds will be raised through providing a top class, uniquely challenging and adventure filled experience through beautifully scenic and natural reserves for participants that are conservationists as well as adventure enthusiasts.
Seeks to embrace the social weekend warriors, wildlife enthusiasts as well as the racing snakes. Teams will be required to be made up of at least two members, but the race organisers will consider single applicants for as long as they agree to be grouped with other cyclists of a similar ability.
Although the event will be spread across three days, the compulsory pre event briefing will take place on the evening of the 7th July. The three day stage event will cover a distance of between 50 to 80 kms each day.
Has been totally changed from last year and will start about 40km south of Victoria Falls along the Bulawayo Rd and take us back to Victoria Falls on a combination of old hunting tracks, elephant paths and along the banks of the Masue River all the way back to Victoria Falls.
Will start at the same place as last year, about 40 kms on the Road to the Kazungula border, and take us back to Victoria Falls along the Westwood Vlei and then through the Zambezi National Park and along the Zambezi River.
This will be the same as last year and commence about 30 kms out of town below and downstream of Victoria Falls. The route on this final day will be mostly single track and technically challenging as it takes us back towards Victoria Falls along the Batoka Gorge with spectacular views of the Zambezi River way below and the Victoria Falls as you approach the finish; you will literally be riding on the edge on several occasions during this stage.
