Rukomechi Camp Revamped
The scenic Rukomechi camp has undergone a refurbishment, giving way to a refreshing atmosphere. This has buffered the camp’s already aesthetic appeal.
Situated on a large private concession in the heart of the Zambezi Valley’s Mana Pools National Park, Ruckomechi Camp looks out from the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. The camp is located in the Zambezi Valley, where the Zambezi River meanders for 300km to the Mozambican border. It is a remote, beautiful place with magnificent view of the broad flowing river, floodplains and lush bush land spanning the mountainous expanse. This area is one of Africa’s most renowned game viewing regions.
Retaining Rukomechi’s quintessence
The camp reopened on the 1 May 2016, as a brand new camp, maintaining all the best traits of the camp you know and love, as well as adding some fresh touches to the experience. Totally rebuilt and revamped, it still overlooks the same wide stretch of the Zambezi River, and the dramatic purple-hued escarpment of Zambia in the distance.
Location and structure
Situated on a large private concession in the heart of the Zambezi Valley’s Mana Pools National Park, Ruckomechi Camp looks out from the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.
The camp accommodates guests in ten spacious and beautifully decorated en-suite tents, including two family rooms, all of which overlook the river. The central dining, bar and lounge areas face the escarpment, and there is a separate pool deck swimming and sunbathing, and an inviting fire deck. A romantic star-bed situated nearby overlooks a productive waterhole.
• Game drives
• Nature walks
• Catch-and-release fishing
• Star bed
Even more exciting, we are opening another camp in the same concession, offering a more personalised experience of the Mana Pools area. A little further downstream from its sister camp, Little Ruckomechi will be just that, small and intimate! Keeping to our excellent Classic standards, this camp will offer an authentic and nostalgic sense of safari.
