On the 25th of March 2016 Fastjet will launch a twice weekly flight between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg. The schedule will be on Friday and Sunday each week. This seems to be with either two night weekend stays or five night mid-week stays in mind.
The new schedule will be run by Fastjet’s Zimbabwe Company. The company also runs a schedule from Harare to Victoria Falls with a three flights weekly schedule. The success on this schedule has given the company the confidence to expand its network in the region and specifically including Victoria Falls which has recently seen a major upgrade to its Airport facilities.
Fastjet began its African operations in East Africa where it has enjoyed good success, the Zimbabwean company utilizes an Airbus A19 aircraft.
A regional tourism player commented that the introduction of the new schedule between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls by the low cost airline is a welcome, especially because of the weak South African Rand – “hopefully the low cost flights will make Victoria Falls attractive once again to the South African market”
