Government has awarded a $122 million contract to China National Complete Engineering Corporation for the
construction of Mfuwe International Airport in Eastern Province. The new airport is scheduled for completion in two
years. Government plans to turn the airport into a small city complete with a hotel and a shopping mall to attract 300,000
passengers a year, up from 30,000 currently, by promoting domestic tourism, Zambia Airports Corporation MD Robinson
Misitala stated.
