The Minister of Health in South Africa has confirmed that any persons arriving in South Africa from Zambia will no longer require a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate. This information can be verified on the following site for the South African National Travel Health Network – Santhnet
This is fantastic news for Zambian tourism, as the requirement had hindered travel to this destination by tourists not only from South Africa, but also for visitors travelling from around the globe, who found it easier to access Zambia by connecting through Johannesburg’s ORT international Airport. With this stop over, all tourists had to undergo the vaccination. The news will be celebrated around the many and diverse tourist destinations in Zambia that include Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba but also include some of Africa’s finest safari destinations such as the Luangwa, Kafue and Lower Zambezi areas.
Tour operators from around the world that focus on selling Africa will also be celebrating as it will make selling a circuit in Southern Africa that includes Zambia much easier. This will no doubt help tourism to Southern Africa as a whole.
