Join Jacada Travel and Botswana Tourism for an evening at the Royal Geographical Society with Ralph Bousfield. On January 14th at 1800 Entrance 10 BP pp
Ralph Bousfield is one of the most famous safari guides in Africa. From a long line of guides, Ralph was brought up in Botswana alongside the native Bushmen, giving him an extraordinary insight to the culture and land of the Kalahari and the Makgadikgadi Pans. Among his many achievements, he established Botswana’s first wildlife orphanage and education centre with his mother, and presented the 16-part Discovery Channel series ‘Uncharted Africa’.
Ralph will be speaking about Botswana and the history of conservation, which closely ties in with his own family history. He will be joined by Joss Kent, the CEO of &Beyond, who will be introducing the charity Rhinos Without Borders, for which we will be fundraising throughout the night.
After the talk, there will be drinks, snacks and the chance to mingle and chat to any of the travel experts, including Ralph, at the event.
We will be auctioning off a fantastic luxury trip to Botswana with the money raised going to rhino conservation.
There will also be an exclusive private viewing of the RGS’s collection of original Thomas Baines watercolours (the first images of Botswana by an artist who lived alongside Ralph’s grandfather in the pans during a two-year expedition with David Livingstone) and maps documenting the first European expeditions into the Kalahari.
All the profits from the ticket sales go to Ralph’s rhino charity and there will be fundraising on the night for Rhinos Without Borders and Wilderness Safaris’ Botswana Rhino Reintroduction & Monitoring Project.
Join us for a fantastic evening celebrating Botswana and conservation.
