At approximately 11:30am on Sunday August 10th 2014, it is officially reported that one of the HAC aircraft experienced engine failure. This incident happened shortly after take off out of the Victoria Falls International Airport. The incident occurred in the HAC Cessna 206 aircraft.
There were two passengers on board as well as the HAC pilot who was conducting the flight. The pilot followed procedures as per strict company and industry standard protocol. This led to a landing where all persons sustained only minor injuries. The aircraft was up to date in terms of all maintenance requirements. Both internal and external audit requirements had been fulfilled. Satellite trackers on the aircraft
were all in working order resulting in quick location of the aircraft.
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe emergency crews and Medical Air Rescue Services were on the scene within 20 minutes of the incident.
The operational handling and cooperation of all parties was of a very high standard.
Thorough investigation is underway by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe and any further queries may be directed to them.
