proflightProflight Zambia has joined a global student travel initiative that enables young people in Zambia to benefit from discounted airfares.
Proflight is offering up to 20 percent discount on flights for recognised students and teachers under the new agreement, initiated by STA Travel, the world’s largest student travel company.
STA recently signed a travel partner agreement with Destination Zambia and in turn, Proflight has signed an agreement with Destination Zambia as the local airline partner, joining more than 60 airlines worldwide that participate in the scheme.
To qualify for the discounts, eligible members pay just K65 a year, for which full-time students aged 12 years and upwards receive an international student identity card (ISIC). Young people aged 12-25 years who are not in full-time education qualify for an International Youth Travel Card (IYTC), while full-time teaching professionals qualify for an International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC).
In additional to discounted airfares worldwide, benefits of the ISIC card include lifestyle discounts at home and abroad on  accommodation, health and fitness, shopping and other products and services, details of which are available online at
Proflight Zambia Marketing Manager Hellen Ngwira was on hand to help launch the cards at Manda Hill in Lusaka at the weekend.
“Proflight Zambia loves the idea of helping students and young people to experience the wonders of Zambia and invites them to use their discounted cards to come on adventure with us across our great country,” she said.
“Proflight is proud to be part of the ISIC card’s pioneering mission statement: ‘Increasing international understanding through the promotion of travel and exchange opportunities among students, young people and the academic community.’”
The airline, which celebrates 23 years of operation this year flies from its base in Lusaka to Livingstone, Ndola, Kasama, Chipata, Mansa, Mfuwe, Solwezi and Lower Zambezi, as well as to Lilongwe in Malawi.
Bookings are also available online at where payment can be made using any Visa, MasterCard or American Express debit or credit card as well as using Airtel Money or PayPal.
