Tailormade Safaris are offering an exciting new water and wilderness product this year based in the beautiful Matusadonha National Park, on the southern shores of Lake Kariba.
The camp is designed to provide guests with a wilderness adventure combining land and water-based safari activities – including guided walks, game drives, boating, fishing and sunset/game-viewing cruises.
Accommodation is in large ensuite Meru Style tents with a bucket shower and short-drop loo. An outside dining area with a fire place encourages guests to enjoy an evening sharing their day’s highlights round the fire before retiring to bed. Delicious meals are prepared in camp over a fire, with all perishables and ice brought in from Kariba and stored in the gas fridge in camp.
A typical day will start with an early wake-up at sunrise, after which you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a light breakfast. You then proceed, either on land or on water, in the direction of whatever sounds have been heard in the night as you explore the woodlands, bays and shorelines of this magnificent Park. You return to the camp for lunch and a break during the heat of the day, before embarking on an afternoon’s fishing, or another evening game-viewing and birding adventure, with a companionable dinner under the stars to look forward to.
Tailormade’s Matusadonha Camp is accessible by air or via a road and water transfer.
If flying into one of the nearby airstrips, camp guests should expect a 45-minute drive to camp in a game drive vehicle, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way.
Alternatively guests can road transfer to Kariba and from there cross Lake Kariba via a boat transfer (one and a half to two hours), where a Tailormade Safaris vehicle will meet them and take them to the nearby camp.
