Zimbabwe Rugby’s national 7s team (Mens), known as the Famous Grouse Cheetahs, will face Russia, Chile and Barbados in the pool stages of the Hong Kong 7s on the 28th-30th March. The draw for the pool stages of the qualifying tournament were released to the public on Tuesday. The qualifying tournament in Hong Kong will provide the winning team with automatic qualification on to the IRB 7s World Series in the 2014/ 2015 season. The Famous Grouse Cheetahs will buoyed by the fact that they won this same tournament in 2013 in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the Zimbabwe team will get an important insight into the Russian team when they compete in the Zimbabwe Invitational 7s to be held at Harare Sports Club on the 14th and 15th March. The Rugby Union of Russia will be sending 2 teams to the Zimbabwean tournament where they will meet the Famous Grouse Cheetahs, Zimbabwe Goshawks, South Africa, Kenya, Georgia and Hong Kong. Details of the forthcoming Zimbabwe Invitational 7s will be advertised early next week.
