This VicFalls 24 roving reporter was fortunate enough to be included in the inaugural Party-bus tour of Harare. A unique product, encompassing parts of Harare that residents don’t often see, let alone a visitor. Friendly, although somewhat astounded, city residents whooped and cheered as we rumbled through the city streets, enjoying a different perspective of the Sunshine City. We were also treated to the new Zimbabwean beer – dangerously delicious, on tap, ice cold.
“TSURO is a golden-colored, Belgian Pale Ale. Flavourful for craft beer fans and approachable enough to be your everyday beer. Light-bodied and citrus-infused with a light hop aroma. It is named after the traditional Shona folklore hero. Light and witty, an ideal session beer. Perfect for back yards, braai’s and the warm Zimbabwean weather. We think you’ll want to drink this beer any time … all the time.”
“GUDO is an amber ale with a great body and complex character. A beer with a big heart. A range of dark malts bring classic roasted flavours along with a hint of sweetness through the natural complex sugars. Warrior bittering hops are used, along with a blend of the finest aroma hops to add fruit and spicy flavours that are the perfect balance, making this a very drinkable ale.
But just like the Folklore hero its named after, be careful before you are caught acting the fool!”
