Zimbabwe Rugby have announced their final squad of 12 players, who will represent the country in the IRB World 7s Series on the 7th and 8th December. The Zimbabwe 7s team, now known as the Famous Grouse Cheetahs were drawn in Pool D of the tournament where they will face England, Argentina and Samoa on Saturday.
Leading the side will be the experienced Fortune Chipendu with Jacques Leitao being unavailable for this tournament. Gardner Nechironga, Tangai Nemadire, Tapiwa Tsomondo, Tafadzwa Chitokwindo, Njabulo Ndlovu and Kilvan Magunje all have experience playing at International level and represented the team at the 7s Rugby World Cup earlier in the year. Hilton Mudariki, Boyd Rouse and Biselele Tshamala all played at the Middelburg 7s in September for Zimbabwe and maintain their place in the team. Lenience Tambwera, who has played a number of games for Zimbabwe’s 15 aside team, the Sables, will get his first opportunity to play for the Cheetahs. Uncapped 18 year old Brandon Boshi completes the side, after having had impressive performance at the recently completed domestic 7s series.
