Livingstone-Stanley Events for March 2014
We are pleased to announce that the forthcoming visit of the Livingstone and Stanley descendants to Zambia is progressing well. This visit has been organised to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Dr David Livingstone and we believe it is the first time that descendants of Livingstone and Stanley have met on African soil since 1871. Due to a variety of circumstances the visit has been rescheduled to March next year. The planned events include:
Staying at the David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa, courtesy of The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa and Safari Par Excellence
~Visit to Livingstone Hospital in connection with the new Livingstone-Scotland Medical Exchange
~Visit to some of the schools involved in new art, educational and cultural exchanges we have set up between schools in Zambia and the UK as part of the bicentenary initiative;
~ Exhibition by schools taking part in the new Livingstone Zambia-Scotland Schools Exchange Project.
~ Visit to Kasanka National Park and Chitambo Village where Livingstone died, courtesy of The Kasanka Trust
~ Whisky Tasting, courtesy Burn Stewart Whisky and Distell SA
~ Visit to Livingstone Island, courtesy of Tongabezi and Livingstone Island (subject to river levels).
We are delighted to welcome on board British Airways (Operated by Comair) as an additional sponsor to help make this trip possible.
