Elephant Hills Golf Course

Victoria Falls’s own Thembelani Vundla has scored a stellar round of 65 in the opening round of the AAGTC )

Thembelani who is still a junior golfer is playing in Zimbabwe’s team at the current Africa Amateur Golf Team Challenge ( AAGTC ) being played at the Royal Swazi Spa and Country Club in Swaziland. His score along-side country compatriot Clive Nguru who scored a 66 has put Zimbabwe in the lead at this tournament ahead of South Africa. Although it is only one round into the tournament the great start will give the young team coached by Roger Baylis good confidence as they continue through the remaining rounds.

Thembelani grew up playing his golf at Elephant Hills which is still his home course. This Golf Course is renowned for its wild life with water Buck, warthogs and Impala in large numbers on the course. The wildlife is relatively tame and it is not unusual to be teeing off with a herd of Water buck only meters away. The golf course is also set amongst a forest of indigenous riverine trees that offer luxurious shade and reprieve from the hot temperatures. The golf course is an 18 hole Gary Player course with tight fairways and sprawling greens.

Thembelani Vundla is ranked 808 amongst junior amateurs around the world.
