The Econet Victoria Falls Marathon will take place in the town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, on Sunday 14th July 2013

Vic Falls MarathonDeveloped in conjunction with the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe, the Victoria Falls Marathon race is an AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Distance Races) registered event. The marathon race provides a platform for both local and international runners to pit themselves against the best! The marathon race route is fast and relatively flat and is well supported by regular water points and cooling down sections, all ably managed by the sponsors.

A full 42.2km marathon race, 21.2km half marathon run and a 5km fun run is available. The marathon race route starts at the Kingdom hotel then crosses over the Vic Falls Bridge, briefly into Zambia offering the social runner some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa and ends at the Victoria Falls primary school.

Besides the breathtaking landscapes, you will encounter on the marathon race there is plenty more to do and see. Known as the adventure centre of Africa, for good reason, the Victoria Falls has a wealth of activities available!

The competition is open to persons 21 years and over.
All finishers under five and half hours will be awarded medals.

Entry Fee: Zimbabwe Citizens: $10
All Others: $35

 

Half Marathon (21.1 km)

The competition is open to persons of 18 years and over.
All half marathon races you finish under three and half hours will be awarded medals.

Entry Fee: Zimbabwe Citizens: $10
All Others: $35

Fun Run (5 km)

Vic Falls 5km Fun RunStarts at 07h15

The competition is open to persons of 10 years and over.
Unfortunately, there are no prizes or medals available.

Entry Fee: All runners: $3

 

The marathon and half marathon races are run under the auspices of the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe, and this event will be governed by IAAF rules. Final cut-off for both the full and half marathon races is at 12h30.

All pre-registered entrants MUST STILL COME TO THE KINGDOM HOTEL, REGISTRATION, to collect race numbers, sign official entrance form etc.

* NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED ON RACE DAY.

IMPORTANT: all foreigners MUST BRING their PASSPORTS, or Zimbabweans may bring their ID Document to registration for the full and half marathon races.

How they give back to the Community:

SCHOOL BOOKS – as with previous years, we are asking runners to please bring up ANYTHING we can give to needy local schools – books / pens / educational posters, old atlases, National Geographic’s etc.

We will have a collection box at registration – anything you can fit within your baggage allowance will be great. Carol White, part of the organising team, who is already working with AIDS orphans in the Falls, will make sure that all you give will get to the right places!!
