Harare has approved plans to build a five star 275 room Hilton Hotel in the city in a development that brings one of the world’s leading hotel chains to the country.
The project is set to be developed at a site along Samora Machel Avenue in the city’s Eastlea suburb, and will feature a 12 storey complex that will include offices, retail units and a basement car park with capacity for up to 1 000 vehicles.
The city council recently endorsed the project following a directive by Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo to sell land earmarked for the hotel to Stream Walk Arcade, the project developers.
Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda said the development would help efforts to turn Harare into a world-class city by world class city by 2025.
