The national Rugby Seven’s team fondly known as the Zimbabwe Cheetah’s won the qualifiers section of the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Seven’s tournament held this last weekend. Zimbabwe beat Tonga in the final of the tournament. This historic win has given Zimbabwe a place amongst another three qualifying teams to take on the bottom 4 teams of the International HSBC Circuit in a 8 way tournament later this year. If Zimbabwe are able to come in the top four in this tournament they will win a spot in the prestigious grouping of Core teams. This would then see Zimbabwe participating on the IRB HSBC World Series Circuit and will see a large investment of funding coming from the IRB for Zimbabwe Rugby.
Victoriafalls24.com recently hosted some of the team on a trip up to Victoria Falls where the management are keen to look at holding a sequel to the Harare SPAR International Rugby 7’s tournament later this year. Victoriafalls24.com is encouraging the tourism players in the tourism industry to work together to make sure such events not just happen but are a great success as they offer major exposure for the region.
