african savannaINVITATION TO THE AFRICA ENVIRONMENT DAY NATIONAL COMMEMORATION: VICTORIA FALLS

Matabeleland North Province has been awarded the opportunity to host the Africa Environment Day National commemoration in Victoria Falls. Africa Environment Day was set aside by African Heads of State and Government leaders in 2002 to create awareness on the need to protect the environment as the African continent is not spared from the various environmental challenges facing the whole world. As a nation and town in particular it is important that we join other African nations in honoring this very important day which is commemorated annually on 3 March. The day will be commemorated under the theme; “Cleaner Cities- My Responsibility”.

This year 3 March falls on a Sunday hence the commemoration has been scheduled for 01 March 2013. The commemoration will be spread over two days. On the first day on 28 March, clean up and tree planting will be done at Mkhosana and Victoria Falls Low density suburbs. This is a build to the main event on 01 March 2013. The main event will be held at Busi Bus Terminus in Chinotimba Township on 01 March 2013 at 07:00hrs. The Guest of Honour is the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Management Honorable FDC Nhema.

This minute serves as an invitation to you and your staff to attend the event. Attached is the programme for the event. May I through the same minute invite you to attend the final preparatory meeting to be held at the Victoria Falls Municipality boardroom on 26 February 2013 at 10:00hrs.

Thanking you in advance
