THE Western Province Regatta team will compete in the 2012 Zambezi Challenge in Livingstone.
Provincial sports development officer Abel Samungole confirmed in an interview in Mongu recently.
Samungole said the province will be represented by the men and women’s teams at the event billed for October.
Following the postponement of this years’s Kuomboka ceremony, the provincial regatta team has been inactive.
“This year, we did not have regatta because the Kuomboka ceremony did not take place. We pray that God will give us more rains next year so that Zambians will get to appreciate what we are able to do, when it comes to regatta,” Samungole said.
He also said the province needs K20 million to send the teams for the tournament in Livingstone.
Samungole appealed to the corporate world to assist them to meet the budget.
