The past 10 years have seen a major upheaval in the travel and tourism industry. The travel channel that had been so firmly entrenched for decades was completely uprooted as travellers opted to research and book directly online and, in many cases, the middle man was cut out altogether.
On top of this, the financial crisis created a new breed of bargain-hungry travellers, scouring the Internet in search of heavily discounted last-minute offers.
