I am traveling annually with a group of motor bike riders from Johannesburg to Zanzibar and always looking forward to our stay at the Zambezi Sun. There is no hotel with a better location in Livingstone as it is right next to the Victoria Falls. Only some 200m walk and one enters the Falls – free of charge for residents of the Zambezi Sun. Upon arrival there is a traditional dance troupe welcoming you and immediately we feel at home. The reception area is massive and lovely decorated with African chairs and lounges. I always find that the staff is friendly and attentive. Sitting around swimming pool during lunch time and listening to the marimba band is truly wonderful. The food at lunch time is so large, it can easily feed 2 people. Dinner is a feast as well with a huge buffet selection – from salads, pizza, stews right up to the most tender kudu steaks. Sometimes the tame zebras will walk right pass the massive swimming pool and cause everyone to grab for their cameras. The property is astronomical in size and one can wonder through the African bush at leisure and watch giraffes, impala, monkeys and other creatures without any concern of safety.
The bedrooms are all overlooking the gardens and must admit I am a sucker for good bed-linen and here it is so good, I find it hard to get out of bed in the mornings. The rooms are not massive but certainly not tight. The rooms are airy and the bathrooms have lovely showers. I cannot stand showers where one has to run around underneath the shower head to get wet, but here it has those huge shower heads and getting out of the shower is another mission.
I have dealt with management a number of times and I find them all very helpful and accommodating.
I am rather surprised to hear about some other complaints on this property as I only had good experiences and must have stayed here at least 8 times during the last 10 years. I am looking forward to my next stay.
