THE Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has scooped the overall award for the just-ended Fifth Southern Tourism, Agricultural and Commercial Show Cooperative Society (STACCS) in Livingstone at the weekend.
In the financial institutions category, National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) came first while Goldman Insurance came second and the Citizens’ Economic Empowerment Commission (CEED) got the third award.
STACCS chairperson Frederick Mwendapole announced the results of this year’s provincial show in Livingstone yesterday.
In the tourism category, Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) got the first award while the Ministry of Tourism and Livingstone Tourism Association (LTA) got the second and third awards, respectively.
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) came first in the Government Institutions category, followed by Patents and Company Registration Office ((PACRA) and Environmental Management Unit (EMU).
In the agriculture category, Mazabuka District scooped the first award and it was trailed by Siavonga and Gwembe districts.
The Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) scooped the best interpretation of this year’s show theme.
In the media category, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) got the first award and it was followed by Zambia Telecommunications Company (ZAMTEL) and Muvi Television.
Kariba Textiles also received an award as the only surviving blanket manufacturer in Livingstone while Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) received an award for being innovative for its electric train project.
The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Airtel Zambia, Indo Zambia Bank, Zambezi Nkuku and Livingstone Adventures won the special chairperson’s awards.
And Mr Mwendapole described this year’s show as a success due to unwavering support it received from exhibitors and show-goers.
Mr Mwendapole said his team was currently compiling statistics of show-goers, exhibitors and general performance of this year’s show and would announce the details on Friday this week.
The show was held from July 15, 2011 to July 17, 2011 under the theme ‘Shaping tomorrow’s world through technology and natural resource.’
